West Craven v Accrington
Result 61-57
Accrington were looking to build on our initial success after their win against Todmorden in May. The coach departed at 6:30 pm on Wednesday llth June 2008 to arrive for the warm up at 7:45 pm with the first race underway by 8:00 pm.
This was the first time Accrington had swum against West Craven, so everyone was excited about swimming against an unknown squad. Unfortunately we lost this time 61-57, but we shall be looking forward to the re-match on home turf when the gala has been arranged for later in the summer.
A big well done to all our swimmers on the night for their total enthusiasm and commitment, and to the parents who volunteered to help on the night.

Darwen v Accrington
Result 55-59
The night was damp and nasty as everyone boarded the coach for the last away Gala of the season, but spirits were high as the coach left Hyndburn Leisure Centre for QEGS. Due to lack of traffic the coach arrived early and we weren't allowed into QEGS, so an impromptu party was had on the coach until they let us in.
Again another close and exciting Gala was had, with Accrington emerging victorious 55-59.
Well done to all our swimmers on the night for another fantastic Gala and we look forward to welcoming them to Hyndburn.
And a big thank you to all our volunteers on the night, without whom these Galas would be difficult to organize.

With both sides fielding weakened teams, West Craven's depleated team couldnt match their home performance and Accrington finished the night in front. A final score of 60-51 left the team in good spirits and looking forward to the final gala of the season next week. Well done to all our swimmers on the night for another fantastic Gala.

End of Season Gala
Colne Pool
The North East Lanes Friendly League Final was held at Colne Pool on Friday 14th November between Pioneer 79, Colne, Burnley and Accrington.
We were up against 3 very good teams, Pioneer 79 who were the 1st Division Champions, Colne the runners-up in the same division and Burnley who were the 2nd Division Champions.
Although we didn't win any of the races in the gala, we came 2nd in 3 races and we also had several 3rd's which was an excellent achievement. Eight records were broken on the night all from Pioneer who won the event overall as well with 149 points, Colne 118 points, Burnley 76 points and Accrington 56 points.
Our swimmers recorded 17 PBS on the night.
Next year we will once again be against Great Harwood Otters, who have come back into our Division with Burnley taking their place in the 1st Division.
We would like to thank all our swimmers who took part, some swimming in a Friendly League gala for the first time, for their enthusiasm and commitment on the night and we look forward to the coming challenges next season.
